Mushrooms, Green Peppers and Dip
By Rogers Keene
Directed by Rogers Keene
Seven years age, the romantic comedy Mushrooms, Green Peppers and Dip was produced by The Reprise Theater and had a successful run at Oakwood Village in Madison. Local Mazomanie R&R Company author, Rogers Keene, has rewritten the play, adding lyrics for several songs. Bob Willoughby, well known for musical contributions in the Madison area, wrote the music. Besides directing the show, Keene is also playing one of the two seniors who are rekindling a romance from fifty years ageo. Joy Handschke plays the other senior. Some of the fun in the play comes from two other actors [Bob Ohlsen and Amy Ayers] who play sixteen different roles, from philandering children to otherworldly dead spouses who help the seniors along by dressing them up as Mae West and Cary Grant. Costume changes abound, but the ever-recognizable actors add the tongue-in-cheek humor the script demands.
