Matt, a New York fight choreographer and Blake, a New York stage director/writer/actor will demonstrate combat scenes from such classics as Romeo and Juliet and Roadhouse, to give you a dynamic education in the history and practice of modern stage combat systems and the historical fighting styles they are derived from. You will learn basic fight techniques such as "cooperative energy," unarmed combat including punches and naps, fighting for film vs. theater, and standard fight vocabulary. Theater Week introduces young performers to acting, movement, vocal techniques, stage combat and many aspects of technical theater. CTM's Teaching Artists Talish Barrow and Tammy Moschae lead the session, Guest Artists introduce new skills each day, and the young performers work on scenes from a contemporary play or adaptation. Theater Week is designed for students who are new to the theater as well as those with previous experience. Family and friends are invited to the informal presentation on the last day of class. Talish Barrow returns to CTM's Summer Drama School for his fourth summer.He earned his BFA in Theater from New York University and taught at NYU and The Atlantic Theater Company School. He was active in the New York theater for 13 years, where he worked and studied with David Mamet, William H. Macy, Felicity Huffman and Anne Bogart. Talish is currently pursuing his MFA in Directing from UW-Madison. Tammy Moschea is a familiar face at CTM, teaching acting and movement classes. You will follow director/writer Blake Bradford through the process of directing a new play which will open on Friday night. You will attend rehearsals for Bill Svanoe's new comedy starring Emmy Award-winning actress Joan Darling and a cast of professional stage and screen actors. After rehearsal each day there will be a talk back session with Blake about the process. Class times may vary slightly. Plan on being a part of the live production on Friday evening, August 8. You will be provided scenes from the screenplays and will have a chance to analyze and compare written and filmed scenes. Taught by Pete Rydberg, the Director of Theatre at Middleton School of Performing Arts. He served as Artistic Director for Mercury Players Theatre in Madison from 2003-2007. Locally he has directed Lee Blessing's "Chesapeake," Jane Martin's "Cementville," Terrence McNally's "Corpus Christi," and Jill Morley's "True Confessions of a Go-go Girl," Paula Vogel's "the long christmas ride home" and Kevin Murphy & Dan Studney�s "Reefer Madness � The Musical," among others. He is currently pursuing his PhD at UW-Madison. Private Lessons are available to anyone regardless of age and experience, but a strong interest in learning and experiencing theatre arts is a must. Private lessons include a 45 minute one on one session, once a week, and a hour and a half group session with all of the private acting students once a week on Thursday nights. Worship Dance is dance class that is done to all christian pop and rock music with the purpose of glorifying God. Competition Team, this class is chosen through an annual audition for the sole purpose of learning choreography for performing and competing.

Class meets every SUNDAY NIGHT, 6:30 - 8 pm. Rhythms from Guinea and Mali, on Djembe and Dunun. Multiple parts, including first and second accompaniment djembe, bass djembe, ballet-style dunun and traditional dunun (3 bell parts). This class is open to all levels, though it is geared toward serious learners. Beginners will learn the fundamentals of technique and rhythm, while more advanced students learn solo phrases and repertoire. Experienced drummers are guaranteed a new challenge. Paddy Cassidy has studied and performed drums for over ten years. He has studied djembe and dunun in Guinea and the USA with artists from Les Ballets Africains and Ballet Djoliba. Paddy currently performs with the UW Dance Program and WADOMA, and has been a guest instructor for the UW percussion studio.
