Winter Joy Celebration

Fend off winter chills with a delightful diversion: "Winter Joy Celebration."  Kanopy Dance Company, Kanopy Student Ensemble members and the Madison Youth Choirs will enchant you! Though the dark days of winter beset us, glorious costumes and barefoot dancing in shimmering snow, candy canes, a snow queen and more will deliver smiles and warm hearts. "Winter Joy Celebration" features the beloved Benjamin Britten Ceremony of Carols and Songs; new music composed by former Madison alderman and Dane County Board member, Thomas Powell; and fantastic costumes created by David Quinn of NYC. Choreography by guest performance artist Kiro Kopulos (premiere), Robert Cleary's  "A Day in the Life of a Who" and Lisa Thurrell's "Once Upon a Winter's Eve" will delight all ages.

The concert "conjures a sense of vivid, childlike celebration, a welcome frisson of joy in a season that can devolve all to easily into saccharine sweetness and consumerism" ( H.Brown, The Capital Times 11/02.)
