The Hobbit is not just an introduction to Middle-earth, it is an adventure of epic proportions. Thirteen dwarves convince Bilbo Baggins, an unlikely hero, to join them in their quest to find the awful dragon Smaug who has destroyed their homes and stolen their treasure. In their travels Gandolf, Bilbo and the dwarves encounter trolls and escape into Goblin country. Bilbo outsmarts the creature Gollum and finds a gold ring with magical power.
