Summer Breezes

Continuing in its dedication to new dance and new music, the Kanopy Dance Company will premiere works recently choreographed to popular and contemporary classical music for its Summer Breezes concert. Guests include artists recently arrived to the Madison area: choreographers and dancers Jean Kerr, Andrea Harris-Salisbury and Eric Salisbury. Longtime Madison resident and performance artist, Kiro Kopulos of KirOga theatre will also present his work. Company members Ann Christiansen, Robert E. Cleary, Liza Nichole Decoteau, and Artistic Director, Lisa Andrea Thurrell will premiere new dances. Other company members include Christine Angevine, Heidi Bakken, Jennifer Jet, Rachel Kravitz, and Merritt Yandell-Ahmad. The concert features music by Jack Body, Enigma, Patrick O'Hearn, Arvö Part, Harry Partch, Vicky Tzoumerka-Knoedler and other modern composers.

Performances are May 26 and 27 at 8 PM in Old Music Hall, off Park Street and University Avenue, at the foot of Bascom Hill on the UW Campus.

Tickets are $12 general admission & $10 for students and seniors; advance ticket pur-chase is available; early reservations are encouraged. Call (608) 255-2211. Kanopy and the Guest Artists will be available to answer questions and discuss their work at a talkback with the audience after the Saturday evening performance. Music Hall is located near the pedestrian overpass, off Park Street and University Avenue. Music Hall is handicapped accessible; and convenient to parking ramps and Madison Metro Bus lines.
