Milwaukee Repertory Theater

For 51 years, the Milwaukee Repertory Theater has been dedicated to providing the highest level of professional theater to Milwaukee and Wisconsin. The Rep moved to its current home across from Milwaukee's City Hall in 1987.

A cleverly converted power plant, the Patty and Jay Baker Theater Complex houses three theaters. Considered the Rep's mainstage, the Quadracci Powerhouse Theater seats 720 patrons. The 218-seat Stiemke Theater is a black box featuring a flexible seating configuration. The Stackner Cabaret is a full service restaurant and bar and presents smaller, mainly music- based pieces for audiences in its 118-seat theater. Together, these spaces provide the Rep with a variety of staging options and allow us to offer our audiences a wide range of dramatic fare. The Patty and Jay Baker Theater Complex also houses the Rep's rehearsal facilities, shops and administrative offices.

COVID-19 / Coronavirus Update

March 13, 2020

Dear Rep Family,

With the public health emergency declared by Wisconsin Gov. Evers due to the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Milwaukee Repertory Theater will be closed for all public events and performances beginning March 13, 2020 through April 5, 2020. This action is taken to prioritize the safety and health of our patrons, employees, artists, and students at this critical time.

We do not take this shift in our programming lightly and we appreciate the significant impact of these decisions for our community—including the extraordinary artists who have created our breathtaking productions, our tireless staff who continue to support them, and our vibrant community of arts lovers and advocates who have made plans and commitments around these performances. All ticket holders for affected performances of Chasin’ Dem Blues, Eclipsed, Antonio’s Song / I Was Dreaming of a Son and Hootenanny: The Musicale will be contacted directly to make appropriate arrangements.

It is impossible to cancel weeks of performances without creating serious and lasting hardships for your Milwaukee Rep and our staff and artists. As a nonprofit arts organization, we rely heavily on your support. Now more than ever, your support is critical to all non-profit arts organizations as we are realizing significant losses due to the unprecedented impact of COVID-19. This week, we have invested significantly in innovative new technology that will allow us to bring some performances directly to you in your own home. If this option is available to you, you will receive a separate email. We unfortunately cannot provide this option for all productions and in this extraordinarily challenging time, we ask that you please consider donating back the value of your ticket (as a tax-deductible contribution) rather than asking for a refund.

Please stay tuned to our website or our Facebook and Twitter feeds for further updates, or contact the Ticket Office at 414-224-9490. We anticipate a large volume of calls to our Ticket Office and appreciate your patience as we try to respond to everyone’s questions as quickly as possible.

We are so grateful for your support and flexibility. Wishing you good health and we hope to see you in the theater soon.
