Winter Joy
modern dance concert

Choreographers: R. Cleary, K.Kopulos, L.Thurrell

Directed by Artistic Director, Lisa Andrea Thurrell

Fend off winter chills and hail the approaching solstice with this delightful diversion: "Winter Joy," a celebration of the universal joys of the season. An enchanting revel, the concert features members of the Kanopy Dance Company; Kanopy's youth Ensemble; performance artist Kiro Kopulos; the voices of Perfect Harmony Men's Chorus; music by Benjamin Britten and Thomas Powell, creations by NYC costume designer David Quinn; and, KDC resident choreographers, Lisa Thurrell and Robert Cleary. The whimsy and frosty fantasy will enchant you. As the dark days of winter near, glorious costumes and barefoot dancing in shimmering snow, huge candy canes, assorted boisterous "whovillians," an elegant snow queen, a mysterious archaic figure, and more are designed to bring smiles and wonder to faces and hearts. All ages are welcome.
