The Taming of the Shrew

By William Shakespeare

Directed by Angela Morris

WATERTOWN, Wis.—The Maranatha Baptist Bible College Fine Arts Department will present Shakespeare’s classic The Taming of the Shrew Nov. 11-13 at the Maranatha Gymnasium.
Petruchio, a gentleman of Verona, attempts to court Katherine—a headstrong and unwilling participant. Petruchio decides to take on the challenge of taming Katherine until she is ready to become an obedient bride. Shakespeare’s play also features an interesting competition among suitors for Bianca, Katherine’s younger sister, who cannot be married before Katherine.
Director Angela Morris has cast Jeff and Christina Miller in the lead roles. Both have extensive experience in both college and community theatre. Jeff Miller, a 1991 Maranatha graduate, is Coordinator of the Speech Department. Christina is an administrative assistant in the Bible Department. Her stage experience includes a solo adaptation of the life story of Amy Carmichael, missionary to India for 55 years. The cast also includes 14 student actors.
