The Foreigner - Cancelled

By Larry Shue

Directed by Sam White

What does a shy Englishman in search of rest do when he visits a fishing lodge in Georgia? In Larry Shue's hilarious farce, "The Foreigner," Charlie Baker, a proofreader by day and boring husband by night, adopts the persona of a foreigner who doesn't understand English. When others begin to speak freely around him, he not only becomes privy to secrets both dangerous and frivolous, he also discovers an adventurous extrovert within himself.

Produced by Stoughton Village Players at Stoughton Village Players Theater, 255 E Main St, Stoughton

Performances: March 19-28, 2020

Performance Times:
It is with a heavy heart (and careful consideration of the health of our audiences, actors and crew) that Stoughton Village Players announces the cancellation of all performances of The Foreigner. This includes March 19-22 and 26-28 and the preview show planned for the 18th.

All who have purchased tickets will receive a full refund and should watch for an e-mail from SVP@StoughtonVillagePlayers.org soon with notes about that process. Some have asked whether they could simply not take the refund and donate their purchase price to SVP (a non-profit organization). This will also be explained in the e-mail.

As with many similar circumstances in our area, the most difficult part is seeing the hard work of directors, performers and behind-the-scenes artists and crew miss being seen by audiences. We have discussed whether this production could be mounted at another time after the coronavirus risk is gone and we’ll continue to monitor those possibilities but the future has too many variables to plan at this time.

For now, thank you to all who have contributed to this wonderful show and to our loyal audiences who were looking forward to another hilarious evening at our historic theater space. Stay healthy, everyone, and continue to support your local community theater group however you can especially once this crisis is over.
