Steel Magnolias
By Robert Harling
Directed by Ken Urso
Truvy’s beauty salon is the setting where all the ladies who are anybody come to have their hair done and discuss the trials and tribulations of life. The outspoken, wisecracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town’s rich curmudgeon, Ouise, Miss Clairee, Shelby, and M’Lynn. Filled with hilarious repartee and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play moves through the lives the of the ladies to the realization of their mortality, their underlying strength and love which gives the play and its character, the special quality to make them truly touching, funny, and amiable.
