Melvin The Angry Magician

By Scott Feiner

Directed by Scott Feiner

Melvin is a magician at the end of his rope trick.

Melvin is a mad magician. Not insane, mind you. That particular realm of prestidigitation belongs to the likes of Penn and Teller. No. Melvin, you see, is very angry--and what magician worth his weight in wands and cards wouldn't want to share his bitter passion with his biggest and most captive audience yet - the world?

Broom Street Theater proudly presents Melvin the Angry Magician, a new play written by Madison playwright and Broom Street Theater veteran Scott Feiner, creator of My Four Fathers (2002) and The Alabaster County Little League Beauty Pageant (2003).

Melvin the Angry Magician is a feel-good tale of belligerence, tenacity and deceit for a modern world in which a disgruntled magician makes no allowances for children, cuddly animals or his fans in his quest for unhappiness. With the help of the Queen of Hearts and Harvey - a rabbit of varying sizes - Melvin finds his unhappy place in life and shares it freely with an unsuspecting world.

This bitter, feel-good story of a magician at the end of his rope trick boasts a dedicated five member cast including Broom Street Theater veterans Joseph Lutz and Nikki Gottleib and features BST newcomers Elizabeth Mael, Annie Raffa and Jennifer Jenkins.

Come see why Broom Street Theater is Madison's favorite live theater venue according to the Madison Isthmus readers' polls two years running. It's an evening of magic and mayhem with Scott Feiner's Melvin the Angry Magician - playing this summer exclusively at Broom Street Theater - Madison's only year-round original and experimental works theater!!!
