Madison Contemporary Vision Dance Fall Concert Light & Dark
Choreographed by Miye Bishop, Crystal Sutherland, Sarah Dewey, Kacy Prange, Sara Rohs, Tyler Nemmers, Ally Kenison, Kim Smith, Victoria Kemmetz, and Michael Knight
Madison Contemporary Vision Dance company's concert Light & Dark incorporates pieces created by multiple choreographers within the company adopting the inspiration of lightness and darkness in a variety of ways. The first act of the show takes audience members to the dark side with pieces that are empowered by the evil in people's hearts and souls, which in turn engulf the light of others. The audience witnesses the battle between the dark and light, watching as the dark diminishes and vanquishes the light. The battle continues. but eventually takes a radiant turn. The second act embraces the light in the world and in our hearts. Gathering together, supporting, and building each other up to be a shining force defeating the darkness, not only in ourselves, but within each other. The light brings us back to childhood, loving relationships, and spirituality.
Everyone experiences the battle within themselves to either do right or wrong, to follow the light or hide in the shadows, to help others or take advantage of them. Light & Dark will play with contrasting ideas and bring the audience members deep into the ideology of each piece.
