Four Weddings and an Elvis

By Nancy Frick

Directed by Mikki Maddox

Sandy, the four-times-married-three-times-divorced owner of a wedding chapel in Las Vegas, has certainly seen her fair share of matrimonies! In the hilarious Four Weddings and an Elvis, we witness four of her funniest: Bev and Stan, who are getting married--by the King himself--as revenge on their exes; Vanessa and Bryce, two arrogant aging stars who are tying the knot as a publicity ploy, and are vexed by an aging Elvis who doesn't know who they are; and Martin and Fiona, a gentle postal-worker and a tough ex-con trying to get married before the police arrive! However, the final wedding is the funniest all: Sandy’s fifth and final wedding which reveals a hilarious twist!

12/9/2014

Bev & Stan: The Payback
Bev - the angry bride
Stan - the angry groom
John - the Elvis minister
Sandy - the wedding chapel owner
Vanessa & Brice: The Comeback
Vanessa - the bride, a fading actress
Bryce - the groom, a fading actor
Lou - the minister, 70s
Fiona & Marvin: The Real Thing
Fiona - the bride, tough ex-con
Marvin - the groom, gentle postal worker
Fist - scary friend of the bride

Producer: (Any age/gender) This is a very small role. It only has a few lines. The character is only in the last act. This is perfect who a first time actor who is just looking for some experience.

Ken: (30 – 50) This is gag role. Ken is talked about the entire show as being too drunk to appear. Ken finally stumbles onto the stage in the very final scene after the cast leaves and before the curtain comes down. Not really a role, just a quick joke at the end of the show. This will probably be a different person each night.

Marvin: (25 – 50) Marvin is a meek and mild postal worker. Basically, he is a nerd. He is there to marry Fiona who he met online.

Fiona: (20 – 30) Fiona is the opposite of Marvin. She is one touch chick. She is dressed in a very provocative outfit. She met Marvin while she was in prison serving time for a bank robbery.

Fist: (20 – 45) Fist is Fiona’s ex-boyfriend. He is a hard core criminal. He just broke out of jail to stop Fiona’s wedding. He is very scary.

Vanessa: (Middle aged) She is a faded TV actress well past her prime. She is a vain blowhard who believes she is still a big star. She is there to marry Bryce as a publicity stunt. *This character appears in a slip for a few minutes.

Bryce: (Middle aged) He is a faded TV actor well past his prime. He is a vain blowhard who believes he is still a big star. He is also a closeted gay man. This secret in the worst kept secret in Hollywood. He is there to marry Vanessa to restart his career. *This character takes off his pants for a few minutes and is in his boxers.

Lou: (A little old man) He is a very old man who has been doing a very bad Elvis impression for a long. He can’t really sing and doesn’t look at all like Elvis. He was been around Las Vegas since the 1950’s. Not dressed as Elvis.

Stan: (20 – 35) Bitter because his ex-wife is getting married. He wants to get married in a hurry just to get back at her. He is excitable and impulsive.

Bev: (20 – 35) Slightly bitter because her ex is marrying Stan’s ex. She is a romantic and has actually fallen in love with Stan.

John The Elvis minister: (25 – 50) He is an ordained minister who is also an Elvis impersonator. He sings Elvis tunes with his own made up lyrics. A good singing voice would be nice but not necessary. Dressed like Elvis.

Sandy: (30 – 40) She is the quirky proprietor of the wedding chapel. She has seen it all and is a bit jaded but still a romantic. She has been married and divorced to the same man, Ken, five times. Ken is the minister for the chapel but is always too drunk to appear. She appears in every act.
