The Bear and The Proposal

By Anton Chekhov

Directed by Peter Daniels

Two one-acts by one of Russia's most cherished storytellers. In The Bear a creditor hounds a young widow, but becomes so impressed when she agrees to fight a duel with him, that he proposes marriage. The Proposal starts out as an innocent declaration of love that goes horribly awry.
