Dare to Dream Theatre in Manitowoc WI is holding auditions for Wisconsin Playwright James DeVita's "Arthur the Boy who would be King" February 16 and 17 2008. 30 + Roles are available for actors age 6-60. For a breakdown of roles visit www.daretodreamtheatre.com/audition.html

This play features 7 broadsword battles choreographed by Milwaukee Fight Director Luke Leonhardt. 8+ actors will learn the fine art of stage combat in broadsword and other medieval weaponry. Fight roles may include a small stipend.

Roles are available for youth and adults as follows:

YOUTH
Young Arthur (age 8-10) innocent, idealistic dreamer
Young Kay (age 10-12) confident, somewhat reckless youth
Young Mordred (age 6-8) Morgana's sickly younger brother
Young Morgana (age 10-12) demanding and spoiled
Young Guinivere (age 7-9) sweet and innocent. Barely talks.
Young Teen Arthur (age 12-14) smart and learned. Believes in chivalry: the strong should protect the weak.
Young Teen Kay (age 14-16) Strong and confidant. believes strength is power: The strong can have whatever they want
Young Teen Mordred (age 10-12) not very bright. wimpy.
Young Teen Morgana (age 14-16) cunning and demanding. Manipulative. Sassy
Young Teen Guinivere (age 11-13) Beautiful, shy maiden who likes Arthur.
Teen Arthur (age 16-18) Brave boy who pulls the sword from the stone. Kay's squire.
Teen Kay (age 18-20) Knight competing in first competition. the first loyal to Arthur.
Teen Mordred (age 14-16) trained knight who believes winning is everything.
Teen Morgana (age 18-20) cunning, manipulative, two sided, demanding
Teen Guinivere (age 15-17) Image of the girl knights would go to battle for
Thomas Mallory (10-14) Young water boy in Arthur's army
Young servants/Children of the court

ADULTS
King Arthur: Lead. On throughout the play. Must be a strong fighter.
Merlin: Wise Wizard who is nearing the end of his powers. On throughout play.
Sir Kay: Arthur's adopted brother. Loyal to the end. Fighter.
Sir Ector: Comic relief. Arthur's adoptive father. Fighter.
Sir Leodegrance: Nobleman. Ector's friend. Guinivere's father. Fighter.
Sir Cador: Nobleman. Loyal to Morgana and Mordred. Fighter.
Mordred: Arthur's half brother. Does whatever his sister tells him. Fighter
Lancelot: Arthur's trusted friend. Fighter. Only on in Act II.
Queen Guinivere: Arthur's Queen.
Morgana: Arthur's cunning half sister. Beleives Mordred should be King.
