Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre

The mission of the Beaver Dam Community Theatre (BDCT) is to enhance the lives of men, women, and children in our community by exposing them to the enrichment, inspiration, and humor of the dramatic arts. While striving for artistic excellence, BDCT will invite participation by all area residents both on and off stage. Emphasis should be placed on opportunities for the personal growth of the participants, as well as the building of a community of interested people who can teach, share, and laugh with another in the process.

Dear BDACT patrons,

The BDACT Management and Board of Directors have made the difficult decision to cancel both the area high school musical BRIGADOON and the annual summer musical THE LITTLE MERMAID. We recently consulted with a doctor who works for public health within the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and also consulted with local physicians and reviewed CDC and state COVID-19 guidelines. While many restrictions are being lifted around the area, experiences indicate that group rehearsals and performances for singers, dancers, and musicians have a higher rate of coronavirus transmission than other activities. The health and safety of the cast, crew, and audience members remain our top priority. Also, the COVID-19 virus could re-emerge and limit gatherings and businesses once again. We felt now was the right time to make a decision before much work, effort, and resources were put into productions, only to close down later. Other area community theatres have similarly canceled summer productions.

We sincerely thank show directors Mark Lefeber and Ryan Klug and their production teams for the work and many hours they already contributed. We also thank the many people who auditioned for the productions. Everyone is disappointed not to have them entertaining our area communities this summer.

Out of fairness to the high school cast members aging out of the program next summer, we will be cancelling Brigadoon and choosing a new production. The Little Mermaid, however, has been approved to take place in the summer of 2021.

BDACT has come a long way since beginning in 1964. With your continued support, the theater continues to grow and offer more entertainment to the community each year. Together we’ll get through these rough times. Live performances can be magical; we all miss the interaction with performers and audiences and seeing a new class of youth light up the stage for their first time. Nevertheless, BDACT is working hard to provide performance opportunities online. Please stay tuned to WWW.BDACT.ORG or our Facebook page for more updates on opportunities and performances.
