The Misanthrope

By Jean Baptiste Poquelin de Moliere, translation by Richard Wilbur

Directed by William Bolz

French comedy. Alceste, a French courtier, hates all people and makes a scandal of his life by speaking his mind. A struggle to match him with this or that available woman fails when the women find more proper matches, and the Misanthrope is left to find a way to apprciate people. One of the masterpieces of comic theatre.
