Zink: the Myth, the Legend, the Zebra

By Cherie Bennett

Directed by Stuart Pate

This years Youth Theatre Production is titled Zink: the Myth, the Legend, the Zebra. It is an imaginative, funny, and heartbreaking play about true courage in the face of unpredictable predators. It explores the relationship between Becky, a lonely young girl hospitalized with leukemia, and her (fabricated) herd of guardian-angel zebras on the African savannah. In Africa, Becky learns about Zink, a mythical polka-dotted zebra once an outcast but actually a hero with the most courage and the biggest heart. As Beckyís health worsens, she zaps back and forth between her real life and the zebra world until the shattering, breathtaking and uplifting climax.
