Keepers of Harmony

A team of youth from Portage, Pardeeville, Wisconsin Dells, and Markesan have put together a presentation titled "Keepers of Harmony." The performance art piece addresses the issues faced by the Wisconsin HoChunk Tribe - What is their story? How are modern HoChunk youth learning about and preserving their heritage? What can we learn about world peace and harmony from the HoChunk? This unique presentation involves people of all backgrounds, including some HoChunk actors. This is a team effort - the youth, director, and adults were all involved in the research, set construction, prop creation, and scripting. We are giving a preview performance on Friday, July 26, and then taking this piece to the American Association of Theatre Educators Conference in Minneapolis on Sunday, July 28. We will perform the piece at the conference and lead a workshop that tells about the creation of our piece. Please come and share this one-of-a-kind experience!
