THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST is a comedy of errors revolving around two Victorian Era English gentlemen. Jack lives a life respectable life in the country providing a good example for his ward Cecily. While in the city, he lives as his invented wayward brother, Ernest. While in the city he meets and falls in love Gwendelyn. Algernon lives a life of luxury in London, but decides to visit the country where he meets and falls in love with Cecily, while also pretending to be Ernest.

When the two ladies meet, both claiming to be engaged to Ernest, the lies are untangled and everyone discovers the importance of being earnest.
