The Cradle Will Rock

By Marc Blitzstein

Directed by Norma Saldivar; Music Direction by Scott Foss

This 1937 musical was originally produced as part of the Federal Theatre Project. The Cradle Will Rock is a blend of "realize, romance, vaudeville, comic stir, Gilbert & Sullivan, Brecht, and agitprop." This satirical glimpse of "Steeltown, USA" offers a biting critique of corruption, commerce and humanity's value in the face of unchecked capitalism -- issues that continue to divide our country and state 75 years later.
