The 39 Steps!

By Patrick Barlow

Directed by Francisco Torres

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have the intriguing, thrilling, riotous and unmissable comedy. The show hurtles a notorious fugitive and a spellbound blonde from a London music hall north by northwest to Scotland’s most remote highlands. Will they save Britain from a den of devious spies?

CHARACTERS

Richard Hannay: The play's hero. He is an ordinary man with an extraordinarily dull life in London until a chance encounter at a theatre throws him into the thick of an espionage plot. His wit, quick-thinking, and fortitude are his main weapons against the intricate conspiracy he's unwittingly become a part of.

Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret: Three different women played by the same actress. Annabella Schmidt is a mysterious and seductive German spy who kicks off the plot. Pamela is a skeptical, no-nonsense British woman who becomes an unwilling accomplice in Hannay's adventure. Margaret is a shy, sweet, and neglected Scottish wife who harbors Hannay for a night.

Clown 1 & Clown 2: These two characters cover a multitude of roles, from train conductors and newspaper sellers to villainous spies and even inanimate objects. The Clowns' quick changes and physical comedy are the main source of the play's farce.

All roles are open to all gender identities.
The performances are fast paced and highly physical. Come to the rehearsal dressed for light physical movements.
Be prepared to share any unique skills you have!
