NON-SINGING ROLE:
DOUGLAS PANCH: Vice Principal and the guy who reads the words for the bee. Delivers plenty of dry humor. This is a large role where Improv skills are a plus.

ENSEMBLE
In addition, an ENSEMBLE of 2-6 will be cast to play various parents and cameo roles. Singing and dancing will be minimal in these parts.

The following PRIMARY ROLES all need to be strong singers with moderate dancing skills.

RONA LISA PERETTI: Well-liked local realtor and former spelling bee champion, she moderates the bee. Strong Soprano
CHIP TOLENTINO: Last year’s champion, an athlete, and a boy scout, but puberty has hit. Tenor
LOGAINNE SCHWARTZANDGRUBENNIERE: Very worldly aware for her young age, but socially and physically awkward. Raised by two dads. Soprano
LEAF CONEYBEAR: Laid back underachiever from a large, hippy family. Goes into a brief trance whenever he spells a word. Baritone/Tenor
WILLIAM BARFEE (and that’s bar-FAY): Plagued by many health issues, he spells his words out first with his magic foot. Tenor
MARCY PARK: The ultimate over-achiever from a parochial school, driven by her family’s goal of excellence in all things. Mezzo-soprano
OLIVE OSTROWVSKY: A quiet, only child of often absent parents, whose best friend is the dictionary. Strong belting soprano
MITCH MAHONEY*: The bee’s comfort counselor, as part of a community service assignment. *May be played by any gender. Strong tenor
