Auditions

Auditions will be held on the following days:

8/17/2010
8/18/2010

We are seeking five musical comedy actresses of varying ages who aren't afraid to strut their stuff and be a little silly too! Character breakdown follows:

Sister Mary Regina - Mother Superior; a feisty, brassy Sophie Tucker-type who can't resist the spotlight.

Sister Mary Hubert - Mistress of Novices; the second-in-command, she is always competing with the Mother Superior. Must be able to lead the gospel number in the show with the right vocal style and personality.

Sister Robert Anne - a streetwise, tough character from Brooklyn, a constant source of irritation for the Mother Superior. Underneath the tough exterior is a woman desperate to be recognized for her talent.

Sister Mary Amnesia - this nun lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head; she is very sweet and charmingly naïve. The character performs a ventriloquist act as well as a country song in the show. The actress playing this role must be comically versatile.

Sister Mary Leo - the novice, who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun ballerina. Some basic ballet training a must.

Those auditioning should bring sheet music for, and be prepared to sing an upbeat, musical comedy song. Songs should be no more than sixty to ninety seconds and should not be from the show. An accompanist will be provided but if you have a CD or tape you must provide your own player. Auditions will also involve dance and readings from the script.

Though the selection process does imply some competition, it is made as pleasant as possible. Direction is given along the way and people need not fear that they will in any way be embarrassed.

Scripts and chorus books are available for a forty-eight hour loan at the Theatre Company’s office in the Community Recreation Department. A deposit of $20 for a chorus book and/or script is required. For questions OR further information please call 920/459-3779.
