Music in the Air

By Jerome Kern/O.Hammerstein II

Directed by NYC Director, Dorothy Danner

"Music in the Air" is an early musical that premiered on Broadway in 1932. It is part operetta and part musical theatre. Music by the Lake presents its summer production with full orchestra in the Ferro Pavilion at George Williams College. Nationally known director, Dorothy Danner has been a favorite director at the Skylight Opera Theatre and the Madison Opera, as well as in theatre companies across the nation. She will bring this rarely heard musical to life. City Center Encores in New York revived it in 2009 with Kristin Chenoweth, Douglas Sills and Marni Nixon. It is one of Kern's most tuneful scores, and preceded Showboat by two years.
