Based off Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel, the story follows the adventures of Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March as they grow up in Civil War America. The beloved story is timeless and deals with issues that are still relevant today. This wonderful story has been brought to life as an exhilarating new musical filled with glorious music and heart.

EVERYONE auditioning needs to prepare ONE Up-Tempo Broadway Song and ONE Ballad Broadway Song, & a 1-Minute Dramatic Monologue.
(If people would like, one of the audition songs CAN be from the show. This might be a good idea for those looking for the roles of Jo, Marmee and Laurie)

The director is looking for a cast of 10 strong performers. While there are no real age restrictions for auditions the show takes place over a few years, so any younger roles, also need to be able to portray an adult. All characters, except Jo and Prof. Bhaer, will also portray smaller/minor roles.

AVAILABLE ROLES:

Jo March: (female, belt) 2nd oldest sister, she is a feisty tomboy. She is very outspoken, temperamental and is very ambitious. She is very dedicated to her family.
Meg March: (female, soprano) eldest sister, she is a romantic. She is very feminine, responsible and generous.
Beth March: (female, mezzo) 3rd sister, she is very quiet & shy. Is a kind and gentle person with a love for music.
Amy March: (female, mezzo) youngest sister, she starts off very willful, vain and self-centered. She grows into a confident woman who is very world and comfortable in her own skin.
Marmee March: (female, mezzo/belt) mother of the four March sisters. She is devoted, supportive, strong-willed, wise and hard-working. She hides much of her true emotions to protect her family. Her husband is off at war.
Aunt March: (female, mezzo/alto) she is the crotchety Great Aunt of the sisters. She is pretentious and judgmental but she is protective of her family. She is very opinionated and butts heads with Jo quite often.

Laurie Laurence: (male, tenor) the charming but lonely neighbor of the March’s. He is clever and intelligent and admires how close the sisters are. He becomes good friends of the sisters, especially Jo.

Mr. John Brooke: (male, tenor) Laurie’s tutor. Because of his job he comes off stiff but he is really a romantic at heart. He falls in love with Meg.
Professor Bhaer: (male, baritone) respected German professor. He is Jo’s mentor and friend while she is in New York. He greatly admires her but also respects her to be very honest
