"But do you love me in spite of my image or because of it?”
Can an image ever become more than mere representation? Can a woman step out of her role as woman/ as princess/ as peasant/ as lover to embrace her own identity? Or are we forever bogged down by the perpetuation of simulacra at the cost of the authentic self? Ultimately these quests for identity prove transformative or self-destructive.
