HIBERNATION

By HELEEN VERBURG

Directed by Manon Van de Water

University Theatre is pleased to be home to one of a handful of degree programs in the country offering a specialization in Theatre for Young Audiences. UT produces a TYA production every year that plays both in Madison and tours throughout the region. Professor Manon Van de Water, head of the TYA program, returns after a year sabbatical to direct HIBERNATION, by Heleen Verburg. While Jack's parents are hibernating in their dwelling, a hole in the ground, Jack attempts to escape to the outside world with her only friend, a walking stick insect named Bronchitis. Will she find her way out and reach the apple tree? Hibernation is a humorous, poetic, and absurd play with music, songs, and puppets. The production is appropriate for children age 6 and up
