Arabian Nights

By Mary Zimmerman

Directed by Jamie England

The Arabian nights is a play based on the Book of the Thousand Nights and One Night. The play ties ancient Baghdad into the current Middle East. In the story, the King marries Scheherezade who tells him stories to prolong her murder. (The King has always murdered his brides on their wedding night.) This woman proceeds to melt the King’s heart with these stories.
