"A Night At The Nutcracker"

By Billy Van Zandt, Jane Milmore, Ed Alton

Directed by Kara Ernst

Resembling the classic screwball farces of the Marx Brothers, this musical romp has detective Felix T. Filibuster partnering with Pinchie, the silent butler, and his friend Pepponi to prevent the fleecing of a wealthy arts patron. Slapstick comedy, physical gags, chases, jokes and songs lead to a zany climax that incorporates elements of "The Nutcracker Ballet."

11/12/2013
11/13/2013

Auditions are scheduled at 7 p.m. on November 12 and 13 for “A Night At The Nutcracker,” a musical romp by the popular contemporary team of Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore (music by Ed Alton) at the Racine Theatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Avenue (Highway 38) in Racine. The show has a dozen singing roles for adults and plays three weekends, from January 18-February 3.

“A Night At The Nutcracker” is reminiscent of the classic screwball farces of the Marx Brothers. Felix T. Filibuster, the world’s greatest detective, or so he says, partners with Pinchie, the silent butler, and his friend Pepponi to prevent the fleecing of a weathy arts patron, Mrs. Stuffington, by smooth swindler Clyde Ratchette. Slapstick comedy, physical gags, chases, jokes and songs lead to a madcap climax that incorporates elements of Peter Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Ballet.”

There are roles for four women, ages 20s to 30s; one woman, age 50s to 60s; and seven men, ages 20s to 60s. To audition, come to the Racine Theatre Guild by 7 p.m. on either Monday, November 12, or Tuesday, November 13. Appointments are not being taken. Please have a song prepared and bring the sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. Recordings and unaccompanied singing are not permitted.
