[title of show]

Music & Lyrics by Jeff Bowen; Book by Hunter Bell

Stage Director: Dennis Yadon, Music Director: Thomas Kasdorf

Let’s put on a show! And let’s submit it to a musical theater festival! But the deadline is only three weeks away. We don’t have anything to write about. How about we write about what to write about? What should we put in the space on the application that asks for the show’s title? Let’s just say [title of show]. In this love letter to musical theater and the joy of collaboration, two guys write a musical about writing a musical. This show received a Tony Award® nomination for Best Book of a Musical in 2009.

Auditions will be held on the following days:

Monday, February 2nd - 7p to 9p
Tuesday, February 3rd - 7p to 9p

Call-Backs if necessary: Wednesday, February 4th, 7p

Character Breakdown:

Special Note: Age range for all 4 performers could be anywhere from 25-45. Ideally, the four characters would “read” as being in their mid to late thirties. However, the most important thing is that the four performers cast will need to appear to be comparable in age.

Rehearsal Schedule: Rehearsals are expected to start towards the beginning of March, 2015. They will be held Sunday through Thursday from 7 to 10pm.

Auditions: Auditions will be held on Monday, February 2nd and Tuesday, February 3rd, from 7-9 p.m. at the Bartell Theatre, 113 E. Mifflin Street, Madison. If necessary, Call-Backs will be on Wednesday, February 4th at 7pm.

Please prepare a contemporary musical theatre selection that is approximately one (1) minute long. However, please note that you may be asked to sing more (either of that song or perhaps even another selection if you have one prepared). Additionally, script excerpts will be provided for the reading portion of the audition. It is not necessary to prepare a reading.

Questions: Please contact the producer, Steven Peterson, if you have any questions about the show or auditions at steven.peterson@madisontheatreguild.org.
