Movement as Language: Laban Theory & Communication - starts 4/29/17

Saturday, April 29
9am-12noon
Instructor: Heidi Krause

Your movements communicate to others, whether you’re walking down the street, performing on a stage, or running a meeting. How do they do that, and how can you harness that powerful communication for everyday life or your creative practice?

In this workshop, we'll examine subconscious modes of movement and then play with exaggerating and altering them. Gain insight about a multitude of real-life situations: social relationships, work life, and creative practices.

This workshop is an open, inviting space where everyone is equally acknowledged, free to play and be heard. It will be especially useful for those in the performing arts—dancers, actors, singers, etc.—but it is open to anyone. No previous experience required.

Heidi Krause, founder of SENSE Movement, is a performer and choreographer based in Madison, WI. A former soloist with the Kanopy Dance Company, Krause is certified in Therapeutic Massage and has studied a multitude of expressive and therapeutic movement modalities, most recently with the Batsheva Dance Company, whose artistic director and choreographer created the Gaga Movement Language. Krause’s teaching blends all of these together with a foundation in Laban Movement Analysis to help her students bring forth healthy, intuitive movement expressions.
