Playsical Productions, LLC

Playsicals Productions, an acting school and performance vehicle for children, was founded by Kristin Erickson in October, 2014. Erickson, an award-winning entrepreneur who launched Dane County Kids magazine, Brava magazine, the annual Kids' Expo and the annual Women's Expo in Madison, sold her publishing company in 2009 and is now delving into another passion: the arts.

Erickson has acted and sung in numerous productions with Madison Opera and other theater companies; she was the lead singer of the American Jazz Express for 6 years and she is currently the vocalist with ErickSongs, a duo that performs regularly in SouthCentral Wisconsin and was awarded an Addy Award for best vocal performance of the year for a Madison-area commercial. Recently, she was a finalist at the American Idol auditions at Disney World, where, after making it through three auditions to the final show on location, she placed in the top three.

Erickson has directed many productions for children ranging in age from pre-kindergarten through high school and has extensive experience writing dialogue, designing sets and costumes and encouraging children to have a rewarding experience in theater class and on stage, whether they are new to the theater or experienced actors.

Playsicals Productions will launch with a 6-session group of theater classes that will culminate with a performance of a play or musical for parents and other audience members on the last day. After a brief respite, another session will be held. Erickson will be working with other experienced theater professionals who will help teach the children. Joining her to teach Session I, which will be held starting Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Waubesa School In McFarland, is Kaitlynn Robb, an actor and director who is currently working with the Children's Theater of Madison, among other groups.
